About Tribute String Quartet
The Tribute String Quartet is a Brooklyn, NY-based ensemble that recreates classic rock and pop covers in a traditional string quartet format.

Non-traditional music.
Tribute String Quartet’s players have cut their teeth playing with some of the most respected names in both the classical and pop worlds, including Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks, Sufjan Stevens, the American Theater Orchestra, Kander & Ebb, Nina Nastasia, Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, Bernadette Peters, the American Symphony Orchestra, Florence and the Machine, Sam Mendes, Ethan Hawke and Jay-Z.
Graduates of Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Juilliard School of Music, TSQ‘s musicians bring a non-traditional approach to songs that aren’t usually associated with the classical string quartet instrumentation of cello, viola, and two violins.
Arranger Dana Lyn: “I grew up listening to pop music as well as classical music and in particular have always loved the string arrangements on soul, motown and disco records from the late 60′s and 70′s… It feels natural to use my skills as an arranger to bring these songs to life within the format of a traditional string quartet.”
The response to TSQ has been overwhelming. Since it’s debut last year, the group has had countless requests to perform, and has just released it’s first record.
Along with recent tributes to David Bowie and Burt Bacharach, this summer the group debuted 15 new arrangements of Michael Jackson covers on what would have been his birthday.
